FORTVILLE — Harriet (Rafert) Anderson, 85, passed away Jan. 22, 2009, at her home.

Born Nov. 17, 1923, the daughter of George and Ethel (Stewart) Rafert, she graduated from Fortville High School. She married Richard C. “Dick” Anderson on Aug. 4, 1965, in Greenfield. She worked as a homemaker for many years. 

Harriet was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Fortville, and a fan of the Indiana Pacers. She loved NASCAR racing, playing cards, and was a great cook. She enjoyed mushroom hunting and spending time with her family and friends. 

Surviving are her husband, Richard C. “Dick” Anderson; children, Jim (Donna) Cooper of Fortville, Fred (Christy) Cooper of Shirley, and Bill Cooper and Mary Lewis, both of Pendleton; stepchildren, Brenda Whetsel and Buzz (Marcia) Anderson, all of Lapel; brother, Frank Rafert of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jenny Wright, Charlie Cooper, Andy Anderson, Jason Hudson, Julie Fisher, Kyle Hudson, Levi Cooper and Rusty Whetsel; and 15 great-grandchildren. 

Preceding her in death were her parents; children, Barbara and Charlie Cooper; siblings, Stewart Rafert, Jean Thomas, and Elsa Thomas; and infant granddaughter, Tracy Lynn Cooper. 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Erlewein Mortuary, Fortville. Burial will follow in Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville. 

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the mortuary.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
