PENDLETON — Johnny A. Brown, 80, of Pendleton, died Jan. 22, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born May 28, 1928, in Hardinsburg, Ind., and was a Pendleton resident since 1960.

He was a claims adjuster for Farm Bureau Insurance Co. in Madison County for several years until he was promoted to fleet and training manager at Indianapolis corporate offices, from which he retired.

He was a 1947 graduate of Hardinsburg High School.

He was a member of Fall Creek Christian Church, Pendleton; Madison Masonic Lodge 44 F&AM, Pendleton; Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis; Madison County Scottish Rite Club; Murat Shrine Temple, Indianapolis; and Madison County Shrine Club.

He enjoyed golf, the farm and baling hay.

He loved to watch his grandchildren participate in sports.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Anna Marie (Barnard) Brown; two sons, Jay (wife, Judy) Brown of Pendleton and Jeff Brown of Pendleton; two sisters, Wilma Jackson of Salem and Thelma (husband, Bob) Banet of Pekin; six grandchildren, Jason (wife, Jenny) Brown, Jennifer (husband, Paul) Hathcoat, Jacob (wife, Megan) Brown, Jackie Brown, Connor Brown and Owen Brown; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin C. Brown; and his mother, Hattie (Davis) Brown Martin; two brothers, David Brown and William Brown; and a sister, Pauline Johnson.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton with Brother Tom Wiles officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the Lahm Chapel, and will include a 7 p.m. Masonic memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Madison County Shrine Club Desert Patrol, 2419 White St., Anderson, IN 46012.
