The Madison County High School Art Exhibit was open to the public on April 19 at the Pendleton Public Library. The event was sponsored by Psi Iota Xi Sorority, a national non-profit Women’s organization.
Madison-Grant student Kyle Wallace won the $1,000 scholarship which was judged based on grade point average, school-related awards, recommendations, a brief essay, professionally judged exhibition and popular vote at the show.
Judges for the exhibit, Margaret and Irv Arouth, said the contrast in lights and darks  in Wallace’s work was “excellent.”
Judges choice award went to Wallace for his “Clever Portrait,” second place went to Molly Du Montelle Harris for “I dream of...” and third place went to Breanna Vibbert for “Portrait Line.”
Wallace also won the popular vote with Vibbert and Cody Goen, “Sherbert,” tied for second place.
Wallace plans to use the funds to pursue a college education at Herron School of Art and Design with a focus on visual communications.
