CWF Abundance Meal Wednesday
The Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF) at the East Christian Church in Markleville will have its monthly “God Abundance Meal” on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the basement of the church. The menu includes smoked sausage, red potatoes and green beans; salad, rolls, dessert and drink with a freewill offering taken.
The East Christian Church is located at 124 E. Main St. (on Indiana 38), in Markleville and is handicapped -accessible. There will be carryouts available and if you are a shut in or small business and would like a carryout, call Mary V. Grandison at (765) 533-2374.

Middletown library program begins
The theme for this year’s free Summer Reading Program will be “Read, Renew, Recycle.”
Patrons are invited to register at the library, 780 High St. in Middletown, between Wednesday and May 30, and select a free book they would like to win. Several adult and children’s books will be on display from which to choose. All participants will receive a prize when they register and children an additional three prizes until July 10.
This program will include special displays, games, crafts and decorating, to encourage both reading during leisure time and more active recycling and green-living. Actual reading will be done between June 1 and July 10. Adults and high school students must read five library books; middle school, seven books; third through fifth graders 10 books and younger children, 20 books. A special party will be held Saturday, July 12, at the library.
New patrons are welcome to join the library and take part in the program. They must, however, offer proof of residency in Middletown or Fall Creek Township.

Little 500 car show Saturday
The sixth annual Little 500 Car Show will be held on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Anderson Town Center.
There is a $5 registration fee (open to: cars, motorcycles, trucks, etc.) Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 cars, and top 30 will receive trophies.
The streets will be closed to outside traffic. Kids activities include a free movie at the Paramount, “The Love Bug,” and inflatable toys and children’s arts and craft area.
The Midwest Oldtimers Vintage Race-Car Club will be on display.
Also on display will be the Anderson Speedway Little 500 Pace Car.
The ARRC White River Run (10K run and 5K walk) will be held that morning at 9 a.m. downtown.

D-Day invasion to be topic Thursday
The Middletown Historical Society will present the final program of the Spring Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Historical Center. The speaker will be Middletown-area resident Kelly Fields, who will discuss the D-Day invasion of Normandy during World War II.
Fields is a 1963 graduate of Middletown High School and earned a business administration degree from Marian College. He retired from Guide Lamp Division in 2003.
The Middletown Historical Center is located in Gazebo Park on Locust Street in downtown Middletown. The program is open to the public and there is no charge for admission. Light refreshments will be served. For additional information, call (765) 354-2000.
Jazz concert May 18 in Falls Park
The first concert in the park near the gazebo in Falls Park, Pendleton, will be Gordon Brooks “Jazz, Blues & All Time Favorites,” on Sunday, May 18 at 5 p.m.
Bring your lawn chairs. Refreshments and food will be available. Sponsored by the Pendleton Lions Club.
