INDIANAPOLIS — Anderson artist Cagney King will introduce her paintings to Indianapolis in a solo show entitled, “Cagney@Wug’s.”

The show will debut as part of the (Indianapolis Downtown Artists and Dealers Association's First Friday gallery tour in downtown Indianapolis at Wug Laku's Studio & Garage. The exhibit runs July 3-31.

The studio is at the Circle Center Industrial Complex at 1125 Brookside Avenue.

King will display popular pieces, recently featured in Issue #6 of the on-line magazine NewSugar published out of London; as well as never-before-seen new works.

King’s paintings encompass a wide range of media, and take the viewer on a journey of abstract and contemporary expression through textures and loose palettes.

“To say that Cagney King is a mixed media artist would be understating it,” said Wug Laku, gallery owner. “Her artwork combines elements of Fibonacci mathematics, astronomy, technology, poetry, journalism, paint, clothing, graphite, cement, marble powder, crumpled newspaper and more, in original, fascinating ways, creating imagery ranging from still life’s to social commentary.”

King said, “Part of being an artist, in my mind, is experimenting. I am always curious about how different materials will interact with each other, and how can I push the limits of interactions on one canvas. Pushing and pulling, sweating and thinking; rushing and pausing can all lead to a favorable end.”

King’s show will debut Friday, July 3 as part of IDADA’s First Friday gallery tour in downtown Indianapolis, and will run through July 31.

The opening night hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wug Laku's Studio & Garage regular hours are Fridays and Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m.

Samples of King’s works as well as more information can be viewed at www.cagneyking.com.
