ANDERSON — Comedian Greg Hahn loves to go bananas.
Nuts. Wild.
So he guarantees his show Friday at the Paramount Theatre will be physical and fast-paced.
“If you get one of the six jokes, that’s good,” said Hahn. “When I was a kid, watching comedians, I didn’t have any patience for big long set-ups.”
He prefers the Three Stooges, the Unknown Comic or Rodney Dangerfield.
He promises to get to the “funny part quick” at his show.
Indianapolis comedian Dave Dugan will open the 9 p.m. show. Dugan’s “every man” appeal has also been heard on Bob & Tom, the WFBQ morning show helmed by Bob Kevoian and Tom Griswold.
Hahn was raised in south Florida, becoming a captain in the Marines and then a buyer for Lockheed Corp. Turning to comedy, he was an emcee for a lumberjack show at Six Flags Great America and then an actor in a wild West stunt show at Universal Studios.
Moving to New York, he hit comedy festivals and has appeared on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “Star Search CBS” where he was spotted by Tom Griswold of WFBQ radio. Hahn then starred on “The Comedy Central Bob and Tom Special.”
For those unfamiliar with Hahn, theatergoers may want to find his videos on the Web.
Right now, a top view has to be his take on being an extra in the movie, “Passenger 57.”
“I was passenger 58. I was so close at making it big,” Hahn said.
He was to get up from a chair and walk away, a simple task.
But as actors performed various takes, Hahn realized how dull the movie-making process could be.
In his act, he suggests ways to get noticed: Get up from the chair, take three steps and point at the main character. Or spring into the air, do a fake laugh or a series of other unexpected, hilarious moves.
“Finally they realized they didn’t need me on the set. They asked me to leave,” Hahn said.
Hahn recently spoke via telephone while he was readying for a corporate show in Ohio, before flying to San Antonio.
“I’m just prepping for the big show in Anderson. All these gigs are in training for Anderson.”
