Church Women United to meet Monday

ANDERSON — Church Women United of Madison County Area 8 will meet Monday at 9:30 a.m. for its prayer fellowship: "I Can Do All Things Through Christ."Host Church is Central Wesleyan Church, located at 24th and Delaware streets (in the Fellowship Annex).

American Legion serving hamburgers

ANDERSON — The American Legion Post 127, 4118 Columbus Ave., will be serving hamburgers and a drink on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Presentation addresses women’s health

ANDERSON — The Erskine Rehabilitation Center at St.Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital will give free presentations about women’s pelvic health at the YMCA in Anderson and Pendleton.

Physical therapist Jonni Davy will discuss urinary incontinence and other pelvic floor issues in Anderson on Aug. 13 at 11:30 a.m. at the Anderson YMCA, 28 W. 12th St. Call 644-7796 to register.

She will be speaking at the Pendleton YMCA, 6511 S. Indiana 67, just past Huntsville Road, on Aug. 20 at 11:30 a.m. Call the YMCA at 221-7508 to make a reservation.

Urinary incontinence and other pelvic floor issues affect one in four women. Many types of incontinence are related to a lack of strength in the pelvic floor muscles, which can be strengthened through physical therapy.

Shoe Event set for Aug. 10-11

ANDERSON — United in Christ Church, 538 E. 31st St., will have its Women's Group Butterfly Shoe Event on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10-11.

On Saturday, Aug. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon, the guest speaker will be Pastor Sharon White. On Sunday, Aug. 11, Pastor Louis Jackson Jr. will speak at 12:30 p.m.

  • FEA - HB0413 - volunteer Brian Morson - JC 39 A helping hand Brian Morson’s time as a volunteer at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital started as a patient when he had a hip injury. After he made a comment that hospitals in London have greeters, the director of Volunteer Services at the time told him he had the perfect voice and accent to do it at St. Vincent. Twelve years later, he’s volunteered more than 4,500 hours.
