Middletown alumni dinner, July 28

MIDDLETOWN -- The Middletown High School Alumni is having its annual covered dish dinner on Sunday, July 28, at Shenandoah Middle School, Indiana 36 and Raider Road, Middletown.

Doors open at noon with the dinner starting at 1 p.m.

Goodstock to be held on July 6

ANDERSON -- Good’s Candy Shop, in Anderson, is holding its fifth annual “Goodstock” on July 6.

Free live music and classic car show will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Car registration begins at 11 a.m. All drivers receive free lunch, ice cream and more than 20 trophies to be given.

Public admission is free, everyone invited.

Speedway Gospel Fest, Sunday

ANDERSON -- A Speedway Gospel Fest will be held on Sunday under the pavilion at Anderson Speedway.

A barbecue dinner will be held at 5 p.m.; live music from 5 to 8 p.m. Listen live on WQME from 6 to 8 p.m. Hosts for the event will be James Warner, Frances Bonds and Terry Crites.

Groups performing include Classic Voices of Praise, Tim Day Singers of Indianapolis, Church Upon the Rock Praise Team. Other performing will be Tonia Kelly, Terry Crites, Paul and Trace McQueen, Coma F. Jordan, Richard Eichhorn, Dustin Smith and Joe Taylor.

Freewill donations will be accepted. This is a fundraiser for James Warner’s annual Thanksgiving Day dinner.

There will also be free blood pressure checks and free bottled water. Sponsors include Councilman John T. Bostic Jr., Impact Center, Martin Luther King Commission and the Urban League of Madison County.

Dan’s Fish and Tenderloin Fry

LAPEL -- To help kick off the Lapel Village Fair, the Helping Hands of Ford Street United Methodist Church will host a Dan’s Fish and Tenderloin Fry on Friday, July 12 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in the Smith Hall gymnasium.

The church is located at 925 Ford Street in Lapel (one block west of Main St. at the corner of 10th & Ford)

The public is invited to come enjoy all-you-can eat Dan’s famous fish and hand-breaded tenderloins, choice of two side dishes, delicious desserts and great community fellowship. Adult tickets are $10, children ages 6-12 are $5.00 and children 5 and under, eat free with purchase of an adult meal.

For more information, call the church office at 534-3314. Proceeds will go toward Helping Hands church improvement projects.

    A new favorite that combines food and cars is rolling back into town next week. Food Truckin' Thursday starts back up May 1. For about six months, local vendors will pull up their food trucks to Citizens Park Plaza at Ninth and Main streets from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
