Williamson completes Coast Guard training
USCG Petty Officer Matthew Lee Williamson graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center (Tracen) in Yorktown, Va., one of the four major Coast Guard training facilities in the United States. After 14 weeks training as a machinery technician where he was fourth in this class.
Previously he had been stationed for two yeas at the U.S. Coast Guard Station Essexville, Mich., on Lake Uron.
He will be deployed on board the Cutter Sitkinak out of Miami, Fla.
He is the son of Denny and Natalia Williamson of Anderson, and is a 2011 graduate of Anderson High School.
Kocher graduates from basic infantry training
Army National Guard Pvt. Sid D. Kocher graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
Kocher is the son of Jennifer Kocher of Anderson.
