ANDERSON — The Anderson High School Class of 1947 will hold its monthly luncheon this Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Perkins Restaurant.

All members and guests are welcome.

Alex Library hosting book sale

ANDERSON — The Alexandria-Monroe Public Library will have its quarterly book sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the second-floor book storage area.

Proceeds from the sale are used to support the library programming throughout the year such as children’s story times, teen events, author visits, summer reading programs and programs designed especially for seniors.

Fundraiser set for Rhema Wood

ANDERSON — A broadcast fundraiser for Gospel Highlight, Moment of Inspiration and Hour of In Touch will be held Sunday at Rhema Wood Church, 4100 Main St., at 4:30 p.m.

Also featured will be the Marion Male Chorus of Marion, Anderson Zion Male Chorus of Anderson, GH Ensemble, Anderson, the Rev. Edgar Woodall, solo by Tashia Pullin, solo by Tonia Kelly. Sermonettes by the Rev. Walter Allen Steen and Blessed of Detroit, Mich.

Lapel Community Band has summer schedule

ANDERSON — The Lapel Community Band is ready for summer with five area concerts planned. They are:

Friday, June 14, 7 p.m., Goods Candy and Ice Cream Shop, Anderson.

Saturday, June 22, 3 p.m., Carmel Music Festival, Carmel.

Sunday, June 30, 8:30 p.m., Shadyside Park, Anderson

Thursday, July 18, 6:30 p.m., Davis Park, Anderson

Sunday, July 21, 6:30 p.m., Seminary Park, Noblesville

Lindberg Road COC to host car wash

ANDERSON — Lindberg Road Church of Christ will have a car wash at Rally's in front of Big Lots from 6 to 8 p.m. today as a service to the community.

Cars, vans and pickups will be hand-washed completely free of charge, and no donation is required.

Alexandria Strawberry Social on Saturday

ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria Strawberry Social will be held noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Harrison Park.

Strawberry shortcake will be available for $5 per serving.

The Alexandria Community Band, celebrating its 25th year, will be performing at 1 p.m.

Willever speaker at Civil War Roundtable

ANDERSON — Michael Willever will be the speaker at 7 p.m. Monday for the Madison County Historical Society Civil War Roundtable at the Madison County History Center, 15 W. 11th St.

His topic will be the "Bohemian Brigade," a band of reporters and artists who formed a social and working group during the Civil War.

Film Club continues through summer

NEW CASTLE — Henry County Public Library’s Film Appreciation Club will continue through the summer months on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. June’s featured film is Steven Spielberg’s JAWS.

Watch the movie and discuss its artistic and entertainment merits with the club today in the auditorium. Charlie Ours, a recent film studies graduate, will share tips on what to look for during the film and will lead the discussion after the film.

This film discussion group is designed for ages 16 and above. Younger viewers may attend with a parent or guardian. Popcorn will be provided.

Upcoming films include George Miller’s "Mad Max" (July 10) and John Ford’s "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" (Aug. 14).
