Community Briefs: Sept. 17

Rock Church looking for vendors

PENDLETON -- Rock Church Assembly of God, 6501 S. Indiana 67, is planning its fourth annual Holiday Bazaar to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.

They are currently seeking vendors for the event. They will also host a chicken and noodle luncheon.

Funds raised from this event help provide meals to Alternatives of Anderson, compensated missionaries monthly support and supported many women’s activities throughout the year.

Senior Free-Admission Day

MUNCIE -- Minnetrista Theatre Preserves showcases two performances during Senior Free-Admission Day: “Tales from the Mouth of a Ball Jar” at 2 p.m. on Sept. 25.

Seniors, age sixty and older, are invited to experience an onsite viewing of Minnetrista Theatre Preserves’ Tales from the Mouth of a Ball Jar, featuring two performances: “Bounty and Working Man’s Responsibility”. Each show weaves a story of human adversity, inspiring a unique view of history and the characters that shaped it.

A question and answer session will follow each piece.

Ministry hosts rummage sale

ANDERSON -- Sister 2 Sister Reentry Ministries and Outreach, 123 W. 8th St., will have a rummage sale from 8 to 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Clothing and miscellaneous items will be offered for sale.

Homecoming weekend in Alex

ALEXANDRIA -- At 5 p.m. Friday, the Alexandria-Monroe High School Homecoming Parade will be held. At 7 p.m, pre-game, there will be recognition of the 1962 team and coaches.

On Saturday, at 10 a.m., the Class of 1963 will meet at the Historical Museum. At noon, the Class of ‘63 will take a bus tour. Meet at Cox’s Gift Shop.

  • FEA - HB0728 - Fresh Orientation - SH Elwood freshmen learn the ways of high school through mentoring program About half the 112 incoming freshmen at Elwood Jr./Sr. High School got a jump on their friends recently by attending a freshman orientation session. Joan Mercer, an English teacher who helped organize the the orientation, said the mentor program, which has been in place for several years, has been effective in new students make the high school transition.
