---- — 'Early Bird' membership dinner Sunday
CHESTERFIELD — American Legion Post 408, 5100 Mounds Road, will host an early bird membership dinner at 1:30 Sunday.
All area veterans, including all who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, are invited.
Welcome Home dinner for vets Oct. 11
ANDERSON — The next Welcome Home Dinner for veterans, active military and families will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Anderson Church of the Brethren, 741 N. Scatterfield Road.
The program will feature Tamara Rigdon as she gives an update on the home being built for Afghanistan veteran Tim Senkowsi.
Daleville Legion car show Sunday
DALEVILLE — The Three Amigos, Bob Leathers, Poncho and Jerry Arnold, will present a car show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Daleville American Legion, 14708 W. 6th St. Rain date will be Oct. 13.
Registration is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost is $10 per car. Trophies will be awarded to the top 30 and 40 dash plaques will be given. Awards given out at 5 p.m. Food, door prizes and music is also planned
Hospital sets weight management class
ANDERSON — Community Hospital Anderson will offer an eight-week weight management class, held on eight consecutive Tuesdays or Wednesdays from Oct. 8-9 to Nov. 26-27. The Tuesday class will meet at noon and the Wednesday class at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Anderson Diabetes Care Center, located in the lower level of the 1601 building, on the hospital’s campus. Cost is $75.
Instructed by a registered dietitian, the class will include an individualized meal plan and guide, virtual grocery store tour, dining out tips, weigh-ins and consultations with a dietitian. To register: 298-3653.
Epilepsy group meets Oct. 7
ANDERSON — The next Epilepsy Support Group meeting will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Park Place Community Center, 802 E. Fifth St.
The event is free; however, reservations are recommended by emailing email@example.com.
The group meets the first Monday of the month.
Monday genealogy class canceled
ANDERSON — The genealogy class scheduled to be conducted in the Madison County History Center on Monday at 1:30 p.m. has been canceled.
This class will be held at a later date. The other two genealogy classes scheduled for Oct. 14 and Oct. 21 will take place.

Trinity Episcopal plans Blessing for Animals
ANDERSON — On Sunday, Trinity Church will celebrate the blessing that animals bring us, especially our pets. The service will start at 2 p.m. at the church, 1030 Brown-Delaware St., outside or indoors, depending on the weather. Bring your pet or a photo of them. Pets need to be on a leash, in a carrier or a picture frame. The blessing of animals celebrates the life of St. Francis of Assisi, who had a special fondness for animals.
Museum to host annual dinner
ALEXANDRIA — The Alexandria Monroe Historic Museum will host its annual ham and bean/chili dinner Friday through Sunday at Beulah Park.
Serving hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Cost is $7 for adults; and $3 for children 10 and under. The menu includes ham and beans, chili, hot dogs, dessert and drink.
All proceeds go to the Alexandria Monroe Historical Society Museum
