Community Briefs: Nov. 3

November events at American Legion

ANDERSON — Upcoming events at the American Legion Post 127, 4118 Columbus Ave., for the month of November include:

* Free chili lunch for veterans on Monday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

* Pork chop dinner on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $8. Carry-outs will be available.

* All-you-can-eat breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Price is $6 and carry-outs are available.

Christmas events at the Honeywell Center

WABASH — The Honeywell Center will have country artist Neal McCoy in concert for two shows at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1. The country music artist has released 10 albums and 35 singles in his career. Tickets are $35, $25 and $18.

The Oak Ridge Boys will bring their "Christmas Time's A Comin'" holiday event on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. The group's Christmas tour has become one of the most popular performances during the holiday season. Tickets are $75, $46, $34 and $20.

Park Elementary to host tenderloin dinner

FAIRMOUNT — Park Elementary School will host a tenderloin dinner on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Madison-Grant High School.

Carryout will be available from 3 to 7:30 p.m.

Cost is $9 in advance for adults, $5 for children. At the door, $10 for adults, $6 for children.

Tickets available from Park School students or calling 948-5232.

Christmas Dinner Fundraiser Nov. 9

FRANKTON — A community Christmas Dinner fundraiser dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Frankton Family Life Center.

Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children 4-10. Children under 3 admitted free. Proceeds help support community families in time of need.

Santa Claus is coming to town. A parade will begin at 3:30 p.m.

All local churches, schools and civic organizations are encouraged to attend. Lineup will be on the south side of Clyde Street with access from the Dollar Store. Parade will go down 11th Street to Sigler and end at the Family Life Center.

  • FEA - HB0413 - volunteer Brian Morson - JC 39 A helping hand Brian Morson’s time as a volunteer at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital started as a patient when he had a hip injury. After he made a comment that hospitals in London have greeters, the director of Volunteer Services at the time told him he had the perfect voice and accent to do it at St. Vincent. Twelve years later, he’s volunteered more than 4,500 hours.
