Community Briefs: Nov. 3


Annual chili dinner and auction Nov. 10

ANDERSON — The missions committee of Wesley Free Methodist Church will hold its annual chili dinner and auction fundraiser at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in the church gym, 3017 W. Eighth St.

Chili dinners will be available for a donation with the auction to follow. Guest auctioneer will be Leland Franklin.

All proceeds support missions. The public is invited to attend.

Library to hold chili cook-off

ALEXANDRIA — A chili cook-off will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Alexandria-Monroe Public Library.

Cost is $3 for a bowl of chili and drink. Desserts will be available for an additional charge.

Elks Lodge plans veterans dance

ANDERSON — A veterans dance will be held at the Elks Lodge 209, 1803 Broadway, on Friday, Nov. 8.

There will be free admission and free food to all veterans.

Buddy Patterson will be entertaining from 6 to 8 p.m.

'Breakfast With a Mission' Nov. 9

PENDLETON — The Pendleton First United Methodist Church, 225 W. State St., will serve a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 to 10:30 a.m. for $5, children ages 6 and under eat free.

A cookie walk will also be available. Boxes can be purchased for $5 to fill with holiday cookies. All proceeds will be donated to mission projects, in particular the KAFAKUMBA Pastor's Training Center in Zambia, Africa.
