---- — Ellingwood graduates from Navy training

FRANKTON — United States Sailor Mason J. Ellingwood graduated from basic training at the U.S. Navy Recruit training command in Great Lakes, Ill.

He completed an intensive eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies. He graduated his division with rank as a fireman.

Because of his almost perfect test score upon entering the Navy he is now stationed in Charleston, S.C., where he is completing classes at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command after completing Nuclear Field A. School. He will be an electrician’s mate.

Ellingwood is the son of Linda and Randy Ellingwood and the grandson of Claudia and Larry Wyatt, and Judy and Gary Ellingwood. He is a 2010 graduate of Frankton Jr./Sr. High School.

Griffey completes basic training

ANDERSON — Army Pvt. Tyler A. Griffey has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

During the nine weeks of training, he received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.

Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

Griffey is the son of Angela and William Griffey of Anderson. He is a 2013 graduate of Anderson High School.
