Hoosier Park lists concert lineup

ANDERSON — Hoosier Park Racing & Casino has announced its initial lineup of annual summer concerts, presented by Coors Light. Performers include Heart, Little Big Town, and the Doobie Brothers. Additional performers and concert dates will be released over the coming weeks.

Concert dates are Friday, Aug. 1, Heart; Saturday, Aug. 9, Little Big Town with special guests Brothers Osborne; and Saturday, Aug. 30, Doobie Brothers. All summer concerts are scheduled to begin at approximately 8 p.m.

The Hoosier Park outdoor music center accommodates up to 4,500 reserved ticket seats.

All concert tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday and can be purchased through Ticketmaster by calling 800-745-3000 or by visiting Ticketmaster.com. Concertgoers may also purchase directly from the box offices located in Shelby’s Gifts at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino or the Logo Shop located at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino. Club Centaur and Grand Rewards members will receive a 20 percent discount on tickets purchased at their respective box offices.

Celebrate National Library Week

ANDERSON — The Children’s Department at the Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St., will celebrate National Library Week, April 13-19. Children can play games and check out books celebrating this year’s “Lives Change @ Your Library” theme. The New York Public Library’s selections of the 100 Great Children’s Books will be on display all week for children to browse and check out.

Children may receive a prize for reading one of these books during National Library Week. For more information, contact Children’s Services at 765-641-2448.

Korean War veterans meet

ANDERSON — The Anderson Tri-County Chapter 308 of KWWA (Korean War Veterans Association) will meet at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave. Please note time change.

Any veterans of the Korean War or veterans who served in Korea are invited to attend. For further information please call Chapter Commander Ralph Luke, 425-6895.

Joan Mercer, an English teacher who helped organize the the orientation, said the mentor program, which has been in place for several years, has been effective in new students make the high school transition.
