Auxiliary host fish fry Friday

PENDLETON — The Ladies Auxiliary of America Legion Post 117, 611 W. State St., will host a fish fry from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the post.

Fish, french fries and cole slaw will be served at a cost of $7 for adults and $4 for children seven and under. There will be karaoke at 8 p.m. with Jason Bowman.

The meal is a fundraiser for veterans at Walter Reed Hospital.

AHS band presents 'Night of Jazz'

ANDERSON — The Anderson High School Band Department will present swing dance "A Night of Jazz" on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

For $7, a gourmet dessert, drink and dance can be purchased. Extra desserts may also be purchased.

Tickets will be available after school today from 4 to 6 p.m.

MUGS will be selling premium coffee and tea.

Featured will be the Director's Jazz Orchestra, AHS Jazz Ensemble & Jazz Lab Band, and Anderson University Swing Dance Club.

Eagles host Saturday breakfast

ANDERSON — The Anderson Eagles Aerie 174, 1315 Meridian St., will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Mirror Room.

Adult price is $6 for all-you-can-eat sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, toast, coffee and juice.

The event is open to the public.

Celebrate National Library Week at APL

ANDERSON — Visit the Children’s Department at the Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St., during National Library Week, April 13-19, to play games and check out books celebrating this year’s “Lives Change @ Your Library” theme.

The New York Public Library’s selections of the 100 Great Children’s Books will be on display all week for children to browse and check out. Children may receive a prize for reading one of these books during National Library Week.

Children's art class scheduled

ANDERSON — Children's art class "Juice Box Heroes" will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Toscana Event Centre, 1314 Broadway, Anderson.

Class includes instructor, easel, paint, brushes, apron, drinks and snacks. Cost is $15 per child. This is a great class for your budding artists.

Joan Mercer, an English teacher who helped organize the the orientation, said the mentor program, which has been in place for several years, has been effective in new students make the high school transition.
