Community Briefs: June 19

Grilled tenderloin dinners at VFW

ANDERSON — The Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave., will host a grilled tenderloin dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Cost is $7 for grilled tenderloin, potato salad, baked beans and roll.

MHHS Class of ’63 sets 50-year reunion

ANDERSON — Madison Heights Class of 1963 is planning its 50-year class reunion for the weekend of Sept. 20-21.

A dinner will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, at The Edge at 6 p.m. A social will be held at Garfield’s on Friday night, Sept. 20.

Etchison taking over at Armory

ANDERSON — Justin W. Etchison, formerly of Anderson, and currently a resident of Fort Wayne, has been promoted to major and assigned as the commander of the local Anderson National Guard Armory (Charlie Company — 38th Divisional Battalion).

Maj. Etchison is the son of John E. Etchison, the late JoAnn S.Etchison, and grandson of Ed and Kathy Etchison, all from Anderson.

Summitville fair starts June 26

SUMMITVILLE — The Summitville Country Fair will run from June 26-29.

Bring your princess to meet and share a story with one of their favorite princesses. Special guest appearances: Snow White, Cinderella and Rapunzel will be joining us this year

Activities will include hog wrestling, battery-powered kiddy drags, truck pulls and the Midway.

There is free parking and admission into the fair grounds.

    A small group of amputees gathered for the Second Annual Show Your Mettle Day at Frazier’s Dairy Maid on Friday. The event, which offered free ice cream to amputees thanks to Prevail Prosthetics and Orthotics, served as a meet and greet to help support limb loss awareness in the community.
