MCHS to host Dog Adopt-A-Thons

ANDERSON — The Madison County Humane Society hosts Dog Adopt-A-Thons the second and fourth Saturday at PetSmart, 4216 S. Scatterfield Road.

Adoptable dogs will be on site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For information, call the MCHS at 644-6484.

Prime Timer Car Show set for Monday

ANDERSON — The American Classic Prime Timer Car Show will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino, 4500 Dan Patch Circle.

Entry is free. First 300 cars get a free dash plaque. Awards will include Best of Show, $500; General Manager’s Pick, $500; Jo Ellen Cook Award, $100; and trophies to top cars. Activities include classic music with a ‘50s disc jockey, door prizes and much more.

Roosevelt breakfast is Wednesday

ANDERSON — Former students of Roosevelt Elementary School meet for breakfast at 8 a.m. the last Wednesday of each month at Perkins Restaurant, Scatterfield Road. The next breakfast is Wednesday, June 26.

Hunter Hayes tickets on sale

MUNCIE — Tickets for the Oct. 24 Hunter Hayes concert go on sale at 10 a.m. today.

Platinum-selling Hayes will headline the CMT on Tour: Hunter Hayes’ Let’s Be Crazy tour. Special guests will be Jason Mraz and Ashley Monroe of Pistol Annies. Hayes will be in concert at Emens Auditorium on the campus of Ball State University, Muncie. Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling the box office at 285-1539.

Joan Mercer, an English teacher who helped organize the the orientation, said the mentor program, which has been in place for several years, has been effective in new students make the high school transition.
