---- — 'Great Purple Pumpkin Bash' Oct. 5

NOBLESVILLE — The Epilespy Foundation will present "The Great Purple Pumpkin Bash" from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the O.V. Winks Building at the Hamilton County 4-H Grounds, 2003 Pleasant St., Noblesville.

This family costume-fun includes raffles, concessions, music and games.

Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children (13 and under.

Heartland Big Band to perform Oct. 5

ANDERSON — Madison Park Church will present The Heartland Big Band "Good Ole' Gospel Swingin' at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the church.

Featured will be Heather Beck, The Dave King Quartet, Jon Lambert, Andrew Lyon, The O'Malia Trio, Jennifer Wilson, Steve Williamson and a full gospel choir.

Tickets are $10 and children under 12 are admitted free. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Church Women United to gather

ANDERSON — Church Women United Area 8 will host its annual area gathering on Friday, Sept. 27, at East Lynn Christian Church, 522 E. 53rd St., Anderson, at 9:30 a.m. ($7 includes lunch)

This year's theme is "Yes, I Am My Sister's Keeper."

Reservations for lunch must be called in by Monday, Sept. 23.

Auditions for holiday show, 'Annie'

MUNCIE — Muncie Civic Theatre, 216 E. Main St., will be holding auditions for its holiday show, "Annie" on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m.

You will not need to come in with a monologue or song. Instead, look over material on the MCT audition web page for the roles you are interested in auditioning for. Go to and click on auditions to sign up and to get audition materials.

Riverview Hospital to host Cancer 101 Seminar

NOBLESVILLE — Riverview Hospital will host a cancer 101 seminar from 6-7 pm on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Dr. Thomas Dugan, a board certified radiation oncologist, will share information on the basics of cancer, steps you can take to prevent it and the latest treatment options.

The seminar will take place at Riverview Hospital in the Krieg DeVault Conference Room, located in the lower level of the Women’s Pavilion. A light dinner will be served. The program is free, but registration is required. Register at or call (317) 776-7999.

Indy to host Chocolate Fest

INDIANAPOLIS — Chocolate Fest 2013 will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Harrison Center for the Arts, 1505 N. Delaware St., Indianapolis.

The benefit for Arts for Learning, the Indiana affiliate of Young Audiences. It includes a host of chefs, chocolatiers, bakers and restaurateurs.

Joel Henderson to perform at The Living Room

MUNCIE — Joel T. Henderson & the Forty-Gallon Baptists, an 8-piece folk-rock band from Louisville, Ky., will perform at The Living Room in downtown Muncie, 130 W. Jackson St., Muncie, on Friday, Sept. 27 in support of their new live album, "Live from the Kentucky Homefront."

Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets will be sold at the door for $7 or $5 with a student ID.

Henderson attended Ball State and Anderson universities back in the 1990's.
