---- — 'Music for Micayla' fundraiser Saturday

ANDERSON — "Music for Micayla," a fundraiser for 8-year-old Micayla Kay Pate who suffers from mitochondrial disease, will start at noon Saturday at Vertigo Sports Bar & Grill, 2332 Columbus Ave., Anderson.

Cover charge is $3. Bands include Thomas Wayne Pruitt, Uncalledfour, Thirteen Daze and Kemmler's Fate.

A pitch-in dinner and chili cook-off will take place. Bring a covered dish. Dinners, $5 a plate.

All proceeds will go to Micayla's family.

Art entries due Thursday by 5 p.m.

ANDERSON — Call for entries for the Art Association of Madison County Inc.'s “Exhibition 2013,”(a juried show). It will be held at The Anderson Center for the Arts, 32 W. 10th St. Entries are due today from noon to 5 p.m.


— Currently paid AAMC member, $25 (2013/2014 year); $20 for up to three entries

— Non-members, $25 for one entry, $40 for second, $50 for three entries

— Works must be original (no classroom or copies of other’s works)

— Completed within the past four years and not previously exhibited at The Anderson Center for the Arts.

Media specifications:

— Framed (two-dimensional works) that do not exceed 48” in any one direction including frame.

— All framed works must be wired and ready to hang (No saw-toothed hangers, please).

— Three-dimensional works will be accepted.

Opening reception will be Sunday, Oct. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m., with the awards ceremony at 3 p.m. The show will run from Oct. 13 through Nov. 26. Pickup of artwork will be from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 27.

K of C hosts Friday fish fry

ANDERSON — The Knights of Columbus, 1225 Main St., will host a fish fry Friday from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Prices are $8 for adult meals and $4 for children meals. Carry-outs are available. Nonperishable food items will be collected for the local needy.

Church Street Commons serves chicken noodles

ALEXANDRIA — Chicken noodles will be served Monday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Church Street Commons, 204 W. Church Street.

This month's meal is on the first Monday of the month due to fall break.

Proceeds support Youth for Christ, Heaven's Wearhouse, the after-school tutoring program, CSC Theater and other local ministries.

Tri Kappa sponsors bus trip

ANDERSON — The Anderson XI Chapter of Tri Kappa Sorority will sponsor a bus trip to Chicago Nov. 9.

The group will depart Meijer's parking lot at 7 a.m. and will arrive back in town at 11 p.m. Muffins, juice and coffee will be provided on the bus. Passengers will be dropped off one block from Michigan Avenue.

Cost of the trip is $50 per person.

Church hosts Saturday dinner

ALEXANDRIA — First Christian Church, 215 W. Berry St., will host a chicken noodles dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Cost is $8 for adults; and $5 for children 12 and under.

Carryouts will be available until 6:30 p.m.

BSU's School of Music presents annual Showcase

MUNCIE — Ball State University’s School of Music presents its annual Showcase, a concert to benefit student scholarships, at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Sursa Performance Hall.

A reception for audience members and performers will immediately follow.

Coma's Closet, friends set rummage sale

ANDERSON — Coma’s Closet and friends will hold a rummage sale on Friday and Saturday at 304 W. 11th St., Anderson, beginning at 11 a.m. both days.

New Zion Fellowship: Barbeque rib dinners Saturday only. There will be a limited supply of homemade sweet potato pies and zucchini bread.

A portion of the proceeds will support the Red Cross, Food Bank “Thanksgiving Day Dinner” and other charities.
