---- — St. Ambrose tamale sale Saturday

ANDERSON — A tamale sale is planned from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church basement, 2801 Lincoln St.

Pre-order by calling 644-5954 today and Friday from noon to 4 p.m. or text your order to 602-5372.

Cost is $12 per dozen and are available in beef, bean, pork, chicken and vegetarian.

Toys for Tots fundraiser features karaoke

CHESTERFIELD — A karaoke fundraiser for Toys for Tots will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Chesterfield American Legion Post 408, 5100 Mounds Road. Sponsored by the post and The Rockerettes and Karaoke Family the event will feature food, raffles and door prizes.

Bring an unwrapped toy or $2 donation. Donations will also be taken for Alternatives Inc. which is in need of canned food, cleaning supplies and cash donations. All toy and other donations remain in Madison County.

The event is open to the public and is family-friendly with a non-smoking room.

Anderson Soroptimists need your vote

ANDERSON — Soroptimist International of Anderson needs your vote. They have been chosen as a finalist in the Midwest Living Magazine’s “Dream It, Do It Community Challenge” for nonprofit groups. The finalist with the most votes will get a $5,000 grant for its project. The local club would use the grant money to purchase household items for their “Jump Start Home Store” at Alternative’s, Inc. Women transitioning out of Alternatives into their own housing could choose needed household items for the kitchen, bath, and bedroom from the “store” for their new home.

Go to to vote for Soroptimist. You will need to register at the website to vote. You can only vote one time. Voting closes at midnight Friday.

'Let's Talk' jam session Friday

ANDERSON — Young women ages 13-17 are invited to attend the "Let's Talk" Jam Session for Young Women at 5 p.m. Friday at The Anderson Impact Center, 630 Nichol Ave.

Ladies can ask questions and get answers to a variety of topics. Pizza and refreshments will be served.

Civil War Roundtable meets Monday

ANDERSON — The Madison County Historical Society Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Madison County History Center, 15 W. 11th St.

The topic this month will be "Contending for the Border" and how Northern policyt, Southern blunders and strong Unionist sentiment prevented any of the border states from embracing the Confederacy.

Chicken noodle dinner Nov. 24

ANDERSON — Liberty Christian Senior Class will host a chicken and noodle dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 to raise funds for a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. The group will be going in December. The dinner will be at Madison Park Church of God, 6607 Providence Drive.

The dinner will include homemade chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll, dessert, & drink. Tickets for adults are $8 and children's tickets are $5. Carryouts available.

Tickets are on sale now at the secondary office, elementary office, or from a senior. Tickets will be on sale until November 20th. The school phone number is (765) 644-7774.

Cornerstone Center presents Candy Cane Lane

MUNCIE — The Cornerstone Center for the Arts, 520 E. Main St., will host its annual Candy Cane Lane, a free event to start off the holiday season from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 23. Children can make crafts and can walk through Candy Cane Lane to get their picture taken with Santa and receive a gift. The event is sponsored by Alpha Chapter of Psi Iota Xi.
