Civil War Roundtable meets Monday

ANDERSON — The Madison County Historical Society Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Madison County History Center, 15 W. 11th St.

The topic this month will be "Contending for the Border" and how Northern policyt, Southern blunders and strong Unionist sentiment prevented any of the border states from embracing the Confederacy.

Chicken noodle dinner Nov. 24

ANDERSON — Liberty Christian Senior Class will host a chicken and noodle dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 to raise funds for a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. The group will be going in December. The dinner will be at Madison Park Church of God, 6607 Providence Drive.

The dinner will include homemade chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll, dessert, & drink. Tickets for adults are $8 and children's tickets are $5. Carryouts available.

Tickets are on sale now at the secondary office, elementary office, or from a senior. Tickets will be on sale until November 20th. The school phone number is (765) 644-7774.

Cornerstone Center presents Candy Cane Lane

MUNCIE — The Cornerstone Center for the Arts, 520 E. Main St., will host its annual Candy Cane Lane, a free event to start off the holiday season from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 23. Children can make crafts and can walk through Candy Cane Lane to get their picture taken with Santa and receive a gift. The event is sponsored by Alpha Chapter of Psi Iota Xi.

  • FEA - HB0728 - Fresh Orientation - SH Elwood freshmen learn the ways of high school through mentoring program About half the 112 incoming freshmen at Elwood Jr./Sr. High School got a jump on their friends recently by attending a freshman orientation session. Joan Mercer, an English teacher who helped organize the the orientation, said the mentor program, which has been in place for several years, has been effective in new students make the high school transition.
