AHS Class of ’53 to meet Dec. 17

ANDERSON — Anderson High School Class of 1953 classmates and guests meet for lunch at the MCL Cafeteria at Mounds Mall at 11:30 a.m. the third Monday of each month. This month’s meeting will be Dec. 17.



DAV Christmas party is today

ANDERSON — The DAV Chapter 12 will have its Christmas party at 6 p.m. today at Ponderosa Steakhouse, 2002 S. Scatterfield Road. The group’s meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled.



Men’s Group holds monthly breakfast

MARKLEVILLE — The Christian Men’s Fellowship of East Christian Church, Markleville, will have its monthly all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in the downstairs church fellowship hall.

The menu includes sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee, with a freewill offering accepted.

The church, 124 E. Main St., is handicap accessible.

Garden club hosts Christmas party

PENDLETON — The Pendleton Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, in the Conservation Building in Falls Park, 520 Falls Park Drive.

It will be a Christmas program/party. Bring a wrapped gift valued at least $5 for the gift exchange (may be homemade or purchased). The public is invited.

Thursday is ‘Cover My Feet’ deadline

ANDERSON — For the 15th consecutive year, local podiatrist Todd Hovermale, his office staff, and the Salvation Army are sponsoring the “Cover My Feet” program.

The program helps provide shoes and socks for needy Anderson children ages newborn to 12 years. Seasonal ornaments may be picked up at Hovermale’s office, 215 W. 19th St. Ornaments indicate size, type of shoe needed (dress/casual, tennis or boots), and gender of child.

Purchases should be gift wrapped and returned to the family Foot Clinic no later than Thursday, with the ornament attached. Monetary donations may also be made and the office staff is happy to do the shopping for you. For more information, call 649-7351.



Humane Society to host open house

ANDERSON — The Madison County Humane Society, 2219 Crystal St., will host a Holiday Open House on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be holiday refreshments and the animals will be ready for Christmas.

Also that day, the monthly microchip and nail clinic will be held.



Fire department delivers presents

DALEVILLE — It’s that time of the year again and the Salem Township/Daleville firefighters are getting ready to help Santa with his toy delivery.

Each year the department helps Santa by taking him around in one of the fire trucks to deliver presents.

Parents/grandparents must bring a wrapped toy/present to the fire department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, or Monday, Dec. 17.

The receiver of a present must live within the town of Daleville or Salem Township. Fee is $10 fee per toy to be delivered. Delivery dates will be Tuesday, Dec. 18, and Saturday, Dec. 22. For more information, contact Angie at 744-9769.
