Piano concert Sunday at Central Christian

ANDERSON — Central Christian Church, 10th and Jackson streets, presents Hye-young Suh in a 3 p.m. piano concert set for Sunday, Oct. 20, at the church.

There is no charge for admission; however, a freewill offering will be accepted.

HHS class of ’66 meets Tuesday

ANDERSON — Highland High School Class of 1966 will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Applebee’s, 1922 E. 53rd St.

Cornerstone to have annual party

MUNCIE — Cornerstone Center for the Arts, 520 E. Main St., will host its annual free family-friendly Community Halloween Party, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.

Before embarking on your night of trick-or-treating, join Cornerstone for games, prizes, treats, activities, refreshments and much more. This Community Halloween Party will be fun for all ages. Be sure to come dressed in a fun costume and show off your Halloween spirit.

Horseshoe tourney winners announced

ALEXANDRIA — The 13th annual Walt Vetor Memorial horseshoe pitching tournament was held Oct. 4-5 at Beulah Park. The event was hosted by Beulah Park Double Ringer.

Winners of the tournament were: Class A; Richard Mansfield, first; Ted Paver, second; and George Patterson, third.

Class B, Jim Parkhurst, first; Tim Parkhurst, second; and Ron Lawson, third.

Class C, Jim Dyer, first; Chris Lawson, second; and Kenny Denger, third.

Registration fees will be donated to the Alexandria Dog Park.

Legion to have euchre tournament

MIDDLETOWN — A euchre tournament will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Middletown American Legion Post 216, 450 N. 10th St.. The event is sponsored by the Post 216 SAL.

AHS Class of ‘46 to host lunch

ANDERSON — The Anderson High School Class of ’46 will host its luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Rigo’s at Grandview. All members and friends are welcome. The class meets the third Friday of each month.

K of C to host Halloween Party

ANDERSON — The Knights of Columbus, 1225 Main St., will host its annual Halloween Party for children on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.

  • FEA - HB0728 - Fresh Orientation - SH Elwood freshmen learn the ways of high school through mentoring program About half the 112 incoming freshmen at Elwood Jr./Sr. High School got a jump on their friends recently by attending a freshman orientation session. Joan Mercer, an English teacher who helped organize the the orientation, said the mentor program, which has been in place for several years, has been effective in new students make the high school transition.
