Community Briefs: Oct. 27

MCHS to host annual Craft & Hobby Show

ANDERSON — The Madison County Humane Society Christmas Craft & Hobby Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Rangeline Community Center, 1405 N. Rangeline Road, Anderson.

All proceeds will go to support care/shelter of homeless animals at the MCHS. Dog or cat food donations will be accepted at the door.

The kitchen will be open with food and beverages available for purchase both days. Door prizes will be given out.

All-you-can-eat breakfast coming up

ANDERSON — On Sunday, Nov. 3, the Madison County 40 & 8 Voiture 510, 1600 S. Rangeline Road in Anderson will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast.

Price is $7 per person. Breakfast includes bacon or sausage, hash browns, biscuits and gravy or toast. Off the grill, your eggs cooked to order, omelets, French toast, and pancakes.

Christmas in November scheduled

MARION — The Grant County Extension Homemakers will host Christmas in November on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Grant County Fairgrounds.

Doors open at 9 a.m. and the event runs until 3 p.m.

Pictures with Santa will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be available as well.

Coma’s Closet to host Chitlin Dinner

ANDERSON – Coma’s Closet annual Chitlin Dinner will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the basement of New Zion Fellowship, 304 W. 11th St., Anderson (in the basement of the old YWCA).

Dinners are $8, sweet potato pies are $7 and homemade vegetable soup is $6.

Carry-outs will be available.

Proceeds go to Red Cross, Second Harvest Food Bank, Gospel Highlight Broadcast, Thanksgiving Day Dinner, and Martin Luther King Scholarship program.

CHA's Senior Access to hold Fall Ball

ANDERSON — Community Hospital Anderson’s Senior Access group will hold its annual senior Fall Ball on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Rangeline Community Center from 5 to 8 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. Dancing, door prizes and other activities will follow. The event is free and open to anyone age 55 and older.

Joan Mercer, an English teacher who helped organize the the orientation, said the mentor program, which has been in place for several years, has been effective in new students make the high school transition.
