Rogers, Dicks guests at Central service

ANDERSON — Central Christian Church will welcome guest minister the Rev. Jim Rogers to the pulpit on Sunday. Central's lay pastor, Jim Millikan, will be assisting with the 10 a.m. worship service.

Vocal guests will be Las Vegas, Nev., residents Jamie and Luci Dick along with their son Trevor. Jamie is the son of Central Board of Elders member Judy Dick. Jamie and Luci both work in ministry and entertainment. Among other professional endeavors, Jamie is director of music ministry at Faith Community Lutheran Church and Luci is an opera performer at The Venetian Hotel. Both are graduates of Butler University.

The Shannons in concert Sunday

ALEXANDRIA — The Shannons will be in concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at Vermillion Friends Church, 2961 E. 800N.

Zion Baptist hosts Anderson Showcase

ANDERSON — Anderson Showcase, a benefit program to raise funds for the community Thanksgiving Day dinner, will be 4 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Anderson Zion Baptist Church, 2008 J.T. Menifee St.

Any singers, dancers, mimes, poets are welcome. If interested, call John Jackson at 610-8900 or Mae Rayford at 617-0397 to participate.

  • FEA - HB0728 - Fresh Orientation - SH Elwood freshmen learn the ways of high school through mentoring program About half the 112 incoming freshmen at Elwood Jr./Sr. High School got a jump on their friends recently by attending a freshman orientation session. Joan Mercer, an English teacher who helped organize the the orientation, said the mentor program, which has been in place for several years, has been effective in new students make the high school transition.
