---- — MHS Class of '62 to host summer reunion

MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown High School Class of '62 will celebrate its 51st reunion on Saturday, July 27, at the Tri-County Golf Course Clubhouse.

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m.with food orders at 6 p.m.

The Middletown/Shenandoah High School Alumni Association will host a carry-in luncheon on Sunday, July 28.

Warbirds Cruise-In set for Aug. 3

PERU — The Grissom Air Museum Warbirds Cruise-In will take place on Saturday, Aug. 3. The gate for entries opens at 8 a.m. with the gate for guests opening at 10 a.m. Registration ends at noon. Judging starts at 12:30 p.m., and the awards ceremony will be held at 3 p.m.

GAM will be award Top 30 prizes for "Pre-1973" entries and Top 20 awards for "1974 to the Present" entries. There will be multiple food vendors, product vendors, military recruiters, kids games and prizes, and live entertainment. There will be free admission to the museum.

BSU students provide peek at free state park apps Friday

ANDERSON — Seven Ball State students will offer a sneak peek at smartphone apps they developed that show history tours of several Indiana state parks at 10 a.m. Friday.

The free event, during which attendees will have a hands-on chance to try the apps, is at Mounds State Park in Anderson.

The apps are being developed to help DNR’s preparation for the centennial anniversary of Indiana State Parks in 2016.

After the students’ 15-minute presentation about the project, attendees will be able to try the apps on smartphones and tablets, which will be provided, as will light refreshments. The apps are not yet approved for download. The usual $5-per-vehicle gate fee for in-state residents will be waived for those attending the event.

Lapel Community Band concert tonight

ANDERSON — The Anderson First United Methodist Church invites the community to join them at Davis Park for a concert by the Lapel Community Band at 7 p.m. tonight. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the sounds of the Lapel Community Band.

The Anderson Area Children's Choir is sponsoring a picnic dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. at the park as a fundraiser for the choir. Cost of the meal will be $5. The concert is free, but a freewill offering will be taken to benefit FUMC's Outreach Ministries.

Davis Park is at Ind. 32 and Layton Road on the west side of Anderson.

'Back to School' festival is Sunday at Shadyside Park

ANDERSON — The “Back to School” Summer Festival will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Shadyside Park. Kids will play games to receive free school supplies.

Other activities include: public auction, basket silent auction, jazz group providing live music.

Proceeds go to support the Anderson Community School’s “School Wide Positive Behavior Support" program.

Cadiz school books now on sale

CADIZ — The Cadiz School alumni committee will sell Cadiz school books (years 1901 - 1967) that were reprinted with additional pictures and including history/pictures of the Cadiz community at the Cadiz Community Day event on Saturday at the Lions Community Building on Ind. 38 in Cadiz.

Anyone interested can purchase a book that day or contact Evelyn Pring Addison. Price is $15.

Portland hosting 41st meet of Vintage Motorbike Club

PORTLAND — The vintage Motorbike Club will hold its 41st national meet July 20-24 at the Jay County Fairgrounds in Portland. This Annual Event is the largest meet of its kind in the nation featuring Vintage Cushman Motorbikes. An all-day pass at the gate is $5.
