---- — T-bone steaks on Legion menu

MIDDLETOWN — Middletown American Legion Post 216 will be serving grilled T-bone steaks and two sides from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday along with its every Friday night special, broasted fish.

Kandis Chambers will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. The Legion is a family-oriented non-smoking diner where the public is welcome. For more information, call 354-4892.

Speedway to host blood drive Saturday

ANDERSON -- Anderson Speedway, 1311 Martin Luther King Blvd., will host a blood drive in the Blood Mobile from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Each donor will receive a ticket to any future 2013 event. Walk-ins are welcome.

Charity event slated for Aug. 3

ANDERSON -- Jimbo’s, 3100 Main St., Anderson, will host a charity event for Kandis “Bam Bam” Shreve on Saturday, Aug. 3, beginning at 6 p.m.

“Fighting Leukemia Bam Bam Strong” will feature three bands for $3. The East Central Roller Derby girls will be in attendance along with raffles, a silent auction, 50/50 drawing, door prizes, a photo booth and Bam Bam Bandanas.

A food drive will be conducted for her children. For more information call 644-2211.

New exhibit coming to Park Place Arts

ANDERSON – Fibers in various forms are at the heart of Park Place Arts’ exhibit “Textiles,” set to open Saturday.

The show features quilts, afghans, needlepoint, knit work, crafts and more. The opening takes place Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., and the show runs through the end of August.

On Monday, July 29, local artist and teacher Vanessa DeYoung welcomes kids of all ages to her self-portrait painting class. Students will learn about the artist Frida Kahlo, and paint a portrait on their own canvas. Instruction and supplies are included in the $30 class fee. The class runs from 9 a.m. to noon at Park Place Arts.

VFW to host Friday dinner

ANDERSON -- The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave., will have hamburgers or Polish sausage with baked beans, potato salad and an ice cream sundae on Friday from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Cost is $6. Carryouts will be available.

Christ Lutheran to host JamFest 2013

ANDERSON — Christ Lutheran Church, 2751 N. Scatterfield Road, will host JamFest 2013 from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4.

Admission, parking and activities are free. The purchase of a $2 ticket at the door can be redeemed for a jar of homemade jam and enter your name into the drawing for door prizes, including a hot air balloon ride for two, Andrew Luck No. 12 jersey, gift cards, symphony tickets, and free food to name a few.

Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Blind Ministry. Enjoy live music by Carl Erskine and other local musicians throughout the evening, including Anderson University Doctors of Jazz. There will be lots of activities for the children.
