Family Fish Camp at Shadyside
ANDERSON -- Fishing’s Future More Than a Sport will host a free Family Fish Camp, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Shadyside Park Activity Center, 1125 Alexandria Pike.
Alexandria is the third chapter of the organization to open serving all of Madison, Grant and Delaware counties. Shane Wilson, founder of the organization, will be on hand to kick off the chapter’s inaugural event.
The international non-profit organization connects kids with their parents and nature through Angling Education programs called Family Fish Camps and other angling outreach events.
Space is limited and slots are filling up. Ages 6-16 with adult family member (required). Registration is required at www.fishingsfuture.org.
CHA to hold free screenings
ANDERSON -- Community Hospital Anderson will offer free cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure screenings on Friday at the Community Anderson Diabetes Care Center, located in the lower level of the 1601 building on the hospital’s campus, from 9 a.m. to noon on a walk-in basis.
For best results, it is recommended that participants fast for 10 hours beforehand with nothing but water and necessary medications.
Dance, dance, dance to the oldies
ANDERSON -- Footloose Square Dance Club is hosting a ’50s & ’60s themed square dance on Sunday at the Rangeline Community Center, 1405 N Rangeline Road.
Caller will be Curt Braffet and the cuer is Gary Hutton. Pre-rounds begin at 6 p.m. and square dancing begins at 6:30 p.m.
The group dances the third and fifth Sunday of each month.

Farmers markets begin in July
ANDERSON -- New Horizons United Methodist Church will have its Farmers Market this summer beginning Saturday, July 5 through Saturday, Aug. 30 (rain or shine). The market will be open 8 a.m. to noon (or until produce is gone) each Saturday on the church lawn at 611 E 53rd St., Anderson.
Growers are invited to sell produce and garden items from their vehicles. There is no fee.
