---- — Historical Society July Meeting

ANDERSON — On Monday at 7 p.m., the monthly meeting of the Madison County Historical Society, Inc. will feature County Historian Steve Jackson as speaker, discussing "36 Days in Alexandria, 1911."

The meeting, in the Madison County History Center, 11 W. 11th St., is open to MCHS members and friends as well as those who would like to be a member or friend of the society. There is no charge to attend this or any event in the facility.

New Life Church to host skating party

ANDERSON — New Life Apostolic Church will host a Gospel Summer Skating Party on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Anderson Roll Arena, 2711 Broadway.

Admission is $1. Skate rental is $2.75. The party will include door prizes.

'Mexican Fiesta' dance Sunday

ANDERSON — Footloose Square Dance Club is hosting a "Mexican Fiesta" dance on Sunday at the Rangeline Community Center, 1405 N. Rangeline Road.

Caller will be Tom Davis and the cuer is Judy Mouton. Pre-rounds are at 6 p.m. and square dancing will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. There will be door prizes, a half pot drawing and a food table featuring some of our Mexican favorites.

The group dances the third and fifth Sundays of the month.

Kathryn Mascaro to lead garden discussion

ANDERSON — Madison County Master Gardeners Garden Talk will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Anderson Public Library Delaware Room, 111 E. 12th St.

Master gardener Kathryn Mascaro will lead the discussion on native plants. Find out about their idiosyncrasies (fertilizing, staking, bloom time length) as well as the native cultivars. She will advise the group on mixing natives with other plants as well as attracting wildlife in your garden.

11th anniversary Bill Vaughn Cruise-In Saturday

ANDERSON — The 11th anniversary Bill Vaughn Memorial Cruise-In will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Frisch's Big Boy, 500 N. Broadway, Anderson. The event is being hosted by Frisch's and the Piston Poppers Car Club. Registration from 1 to 3 p.m. Entry fee is $10. Dash plaques will be given to the first 200 entries.

There will be a 50/50 drawing, raffles, door prizes and special awards for the Top 30. 50's and 60's music will be played by DG the DJ. There will be face painting and a chance to win a basket.

Entertainment will be provided by Zach Day and the Full Throttle Band.

Proceeds from the day's event will go to Stepping Stones for Veterans.

Mainstage Theatre to present 'A Year with Frog & Toad'

ANDERSON — Anderson's Mainstage Theatre will present "A Year with Frog & Toad" on July 18-21 and July 26-27. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. with the exception of the July 21, matinee at 3 p.m.
