When I finally caught a ride on a wave, he cheered and ran through the breaking water to lift me right off that air mattress.
I made it back to shore that day because of one thing: I never took my eyes off my father. I found the strength I needed when I looked at him.
Hebrews 12:2-3 says, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."
No matter what your situation, no matter how far from shore, no matter how strong the pull of the tides of sin, Jesus is there, watching, waiting. He already took our load of guilt and sin to the cross. He won the battle for us. Don't grow weary. Don't lose heart.
Just keep your eyes on Jesus.
