Legion to host Aug. 6 blood drive

ANDERSON — American Legion Post 127, 4118 Columbus Ave., will host a community blood drive on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 1 to 6 p.m. in its main room.

Women’s Only Triathlon set

SELMA — The Divine Divas - Women’s Only Triathlon will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, at Prairie Creek Reservoir in Selma.

The long course triathlon with distances of 1.5K swim, 41.2 km bike and 10 km run will include a Sprint Triathlon/Duathlon, a 5K, and an aquabike on the same day using most of the same courses.

Online registration is open until 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at www.americamultisport.com. Day of registration also will take place until 400 athletes are registered.

Chicken noodles dinner Aug. 7

ANDERSON — North Anderson Wesleyan Church, 1947 E. 240N, will host a chicken noodles dinner on Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Freewill donations will be accepted.

Class of ’63 searches for classmates

ALEXANDRIA — The Alexandria-Monroe High School Class of 1963 is having its 50th reunion Sept. 20-21 and needs to contact Shirley Cordial Potts, Mike Mason, Della Shane (Becky Campbell), Diane Spooner, Steve Robison, Toni Flowers Jim Barton and Sharon Davis Wilson.

Markleville Jamboree on Aug. 1-4

MARKLEVILLE — The Markleville Jamboree will be held this Thursday through Sunday.

Events will include Baby and Junior Prince and Princess contest, pet parade, recycling contest, baking contest, inflatable bounce houses (Friday and Saturday), a zipline (Saturday), parade (Saturday), laser light show (Friday and Saturday), hay rides and tractor parade (nightly), basketball tournament and nightly musical entertainment and food.

Black Expo seeking parade entrants

ANDERSON — The Anderson Chapter of Indiana Black Expo will host its annual Summer Fest Parade at noon Saturday.

Joan Mercer, an English teacher who helped organize the the orientation, said the mentor program, which has been in place for several years, has been effective in new students make the high school transition.
