DAR meeting for pitch-in lunch Wednesday

ANDERSON — The Daughters of the American Revolution are meeting at noon Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 230 W. Ninth St., for a pitch-in lunch. Turkey will be provided.

American Indian month will be observed. Chuck Johnson will be the guest speaker.

AHS Class of 1966 meets today at Elks

Workshop/salad luncheon is Saturday

ANDERSON — The Mission Ministry of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church will host its annual workshop/salad luncheon at noon Saturday at the church, 1611 E. 43rd St. This year’s theme is “Let the works I’ve done speak for me.”

Workshop speakers will be Evangelist Joan Hearvey of Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church and Sister Elizabeth Edwards of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church.

The Rev. Dr. Floyd Edwards Sr. is host pastor and Sister Beverly Wright is president.

Church offers rides to Thanksgiving meal

ANDERSON — Free bus rides will be offered for those wishing to attend the John Lawson Memorial Thanksgiving dinner at Cross Roads United Methodist Church, 2000 N. Scatterfield Road, from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Tickets can be picked up at the city bus terminal, 1109 Main St., in advance or the day of the dinner.

The free meal will include turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, cranberry salad, sweet potatoes, cole slaw, pumpkin pie, dinner roll and drink.

Parents Night Out at YMCA is Saturday

ANDERSON — The Anderson YMCA, 28 W. 12th St., is holding Parents Night Out on Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m.

HHS Class of 1966 meeting at IHOP

ANDERSON — The Anderson High School Class of 1966 will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the IHOP restaurant, 1935 E. 53rd St.

Household goods giveaway Saturday

ANDERSON — New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 2318 Sheridan St., will conduct its seventh monthly giveaway of basic household goods from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, while supplies last.

Items will include but are not limited to clothing, dish-washing detergent, body and hand soap, and paper products.
