Community Briefs: May 4

Redbud Quilt Guild hosts show

ANDERSON — The Redbud Quilt Guild will host its bi-annual quilt show May 23 and 24 at the Anderson Center for the Arts, 32 W. 10th St.

Quilts will be displayed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The raffle quilt drawing will be at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $3 for one day or $5 for two days.

AHS class of '64 updating records

ANDERSON — The Anderson High School Class of 1964 Reunion Committee has been updating its records in preparation for its 50th class reunion to be held this fall.

Any class member who has not been contacted is asked to call 642-6533 or 642-5608 to verify or update a current mailing address and phone number. A first mailing is targeted for early May and will contain specific details about the reunion to be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at The Edge in Anderson.

K of C hosts Mother's Day brunch

ANDERSON — The Knights of Columbus, 1225 Main St., will host a Mother's Day brunch from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 11.

Price is $9 per person.

American Legion serves hamburgers

ANDERSON — The American Legion Post 127, 4118 Columbus Ave., Anderson, will serve hamburgers and drinks from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 10.

Cost is $2.

Joan Mercer, an English teacher who helped organize the the orientation, said the mentor program, which has been in place for several years, has been effective in new students make the high school transition.
