Master Gardener Association holds plant sale

ALEXANDRIA — The Madison County Master Gardener Association will hold its annual plant sale on Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to noon in the 4-H Building at Beulah Park in Alexandria.

Proceeds are used to fund scholarships for college students majoring in horticultural studies. The sale will feature perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs, bushes, trees and houseplants. There will also be vendors with yard art and various garden-related items.

CHA gift shop to hold sale

ANDERSON — The Community Hospital Anderson gift shop will host a Treska trunk show on Thursday, May 8 in the hospital’s cafeteria from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. All items will be 25 percent off retail prices.

All jewelry, purses and scarves in the hospital gift shop will also be discounted 25 percent off. The gift shop is a project of the Community Hospital Anderson Auxiliary, and all proceeds benefit the hospital and the community.

Next Welcome Home dinner May 9

ANDERSON — Each month the Anderson Church of the Brethren hosts a free dinner and program for veterans, active military and their families.

The next Welcome Home will be held at the church on Friday at 6 p.m. The church is located at 741 N Scatterfield Road, Anderson.

Joan Mercer, an English teacher who helped organize the the orientation, said the mentor program, which has been in place for several years, has been effective in new students make the high school transition.
