Community Band lists summer lineup

ALEXANDRIA — The Alexandria Community Band has announced its summer concert schedule for 2014:

• Sunday, May 18 — Concert at Beulah Park, Alexandria, 6 p.m.

• Saturday, June 21 — Band Fest at Beulah Park, Alexandria, TBD

• Thursday, July 3 — Freedom Concert at Beulah Park, Alexandria, 7 p.m.

• Friday, Aug. 1 — Concert at Good's Candy, Anderson, 7 p.m.

Chalk Art Festival on Saturday

NOBLESVILLE — Hamilton Town Center will host its first Chalk Art Festival on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Artists will compete in professional and amateur categories, and families can text to vote for their favorite work of art. The top three chosen in each category will take home a Simon giftcard. Kids 11 years of age and younger can also join in the fun and receive their own chalk and a medal for participating.

Other festivities include face painting and balloon artists; live music from Not Your Average Boy Band, Blonde Sonja Trio and The Bleeding Keys; and much more.

Artists can still enter any category on the morning of the event. In case of rain, the Chalk Art Festival will move to Sunday.

Bipolar disorder workshop Saturday

ANDERSON — Mount Pilgrim Church, 615 Henry St., is hosting a bipolar disorder workshop on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m.

Facilitator will be Dr. Robert S. Brinkerhoff of the Indiana Psychologist Health Services.

    A small group of amputees gathered for the Second Annual Show Your Mettle Day at Frazier’s Dairy Maid on Friday. The event, which offered free ice cream to amputees thanks to Prevail Prosthetics and Orthotics, served as a meet and greet to help support limb loss awareness in the community.
