Mounds State Park to host summer camps

ANDERSON — Curious kids of all ages will find something to entertain them during a series of summer camps offered at Mounds State Park through the coming months. Each camp will be led by park naturalists and include nature-themed days with hikes, crafts, snacks and more.

The Little Explorers Day Camp is June 16-19 and is designed for ages 5-7. Times are 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday. The last day includes a campfire lunch with s’mores and time at the park’s swimming pool. A $30 fee applies. The fee includes all snacks, Thursday’s lunch, and a specially designed Mounds State Park T-shirt.

The Junior Naturalists Day Camp will follow the same format, but is designed for ages 8-10. This camp will take place from July 14-17.

The Wilderness Warriors Day Camp is for ages 11-13 and will be held from July 28-31. Times are 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last day is a canoe trip down the White River. The canoe trip will include time for water play and exploration as well as lunch. A $45 fee applies, which includes all snacks, Thursday’s lunch, a specially designed Mounds State Park T-shirt, and canoe rental.

Parents and guardians can register their children in advance by calling the naturalists at 649-8128. An adult must be present on the first day of camp to complete registration forms. Space is limited.
