---- — Pastoral anniversary celebrated

ANDERSON — The fifth pastoral anniversary of Rev. Anthony D. Harris and First Lady Joyce Harris of Rock Upon the Rock Missionary Baptist Church will be celebrated on Sunday, Sept. 8. The church is located at 303 E. 29th St.

The 11 a.m. service will feature Pastor Bryant Steans of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church of Rome, Ga. At the 3:30 p.m. service Pastor Tracy Streeter and Trinity Fellowship Church of Indianapolis will be the guests.

Blanchard in concert Sept. 8

ANDERSON — Michael Kelly Blanchard will give a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, in the Park Place Church of God sanctuary, 502 College Drive.

Tickets are on sale in the Welcome Center on Sundays and in the church office during the week. The cost for adults is $7; age 13 through college, $3; 12 years and under, no cost.

Blanchard, director of operations for Quail Ministries Inc., is a singer/songwriter/storyteller who travels nationally giving performances and retreats.

Labor Day church picnic set

ANDERSON — The Cumberland Gap Connection Bluegrass Band is back in Anderson for its 3rd annual Labor Day picnic.

Ovid Community Church, 793 E 600 S, Anderson, is hosting and invites the community to join them from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 for an afternoon of fun.

A variety of activities are included during this event such as a corn hole tournament for adults, flag football for adults and teens, three-legged races for everyone and a water balloon toss for parents and adults. Children will also get to enjoy water slides, a bounce house and kickball.

The afternoon event is designed to be interactive. Ovid Community Church invites participants to bring a guitar or a banjo or a mandolin and join the Bluegrass band jamming on the lawn.

'Keepers of the Faith' in concert

ANDERSON — "Keepers of the Faith" will be in concert Saturday, Sept. 7 at West Cross Alliance Church, 3102 W. Cross St.

Admission will be a $10 donation at the door and a love offering will also be taken.

ANDERSON — "Paul's Journey Quartet" will be in concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at Southdale Church of the Nazarene, 530 W. 53rd St.

Aroma UMC to have guest pastor

ATLANTA —- Aroma United Methodist Church will have Pastor Vicki Hobbs serving as guest pastor for this Sunday worship at 10:30 am. For the 15th Sunday after Pentecost, the sermon will be "Have a Little Faith in Me."

Allen Family in concert at Redeemer Baptist

ANDERSON — The Allen Family will present a concert at Redeemer Baptist Church on Sunday at 10:45 a.m.

For 15 years the family with eight children has traveled across more than 35 of the United States and four Canadian provinces in full-time Gospel music ministry. They have also performed in Jamaica, Guatemala and Zambia. They regularly perform in Branson, Mo. They live in their bus 365 days a year and fill over 275 engagements each year.

This concert is free and open to the public. Redeemer Baptist Church is located on the corner of Lindberg and Rangeline roads, just north of Indiana 32 and east of East Side Middle School.

Herring new pastor of Madison Christian Church

FRANKTON — The Rev. Donna Herring of Pittsboro, Ind., has been called to serve as senior pastor at the Madison Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 11th and Sheridan streets in Frankton. Rev. Herring will preach her first sermon in her new role Sunday during the 10 a.m. service.

Herring is a graduate of Pittsboro High School and Ball State University, and received her master's degree in elementary education from IUPUI. She received her commissioned ministerial License from the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Indiana in 2012. She is a volunteer for hospice serving various hospitals around northern Indianapolis and has training dealing with grief, death and mental health.

Sebastian preaches at AU Chapel

ANDERSON — Dr. David Sebastian, Dean, will be preaching at the Anderson University School of Theology Chapel at 11 a.m. Tuesday. This is the opening session with Academic Processional.

MaryAnn Hawkins and Kimberly Lyle-Ippolito will lead worship and Arlo Newell will serve as Chaplain in Residence.
