McCurdy graduates IU School of Medicine
BLOOMINGTON — Robert Malachi "Kai" McCurdy MD., graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in May 2013 and in July began a surgical residency position at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
McCurdy spend his first two years of medical school at the Indiana University School of Medicine site at Indiana State University and Union Hospital in Terre Haute. During the summer of his first year of medical school under the direction of Beth Tharp, Community Hospital CEO of Anderson, he helped launch the hospital's first medical education program involving medical school students.
He completed his last two years of medical school at area hospitals in Indianapolis which included Methodist, Wishard, VA, and IU Medical Center. He gained additional experience in surgery rotations at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., and at the IU School of Medicine site at Notre Dame in South Bend.
This past summer McCurdy was a student of medicine in Africa at Moa University Medical Center in Eldoret, Kenya. In addition, he has traveled with medical mission teams to Haiti, Honduras, and the Domincan Republic.
Dr. McCurdy completed his undergraduate degree with a double major in chemistry and biology from Anderson University. He is a 2005 graduate of Highland High School and the son of Brachen and Terri McCurdy of Anderson.
