Exchange Club hosts Excel

ANDERSON -- The Anderson Noon Exchange Club will welcome Sherrie Boards of the Excel program as the guest speaker on Tuesday at its luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. Guests are invited to The Edge by calling Bonny Clark at 617-5912 or e-mail: andersonexchangeclub@yahoo.com

Exchange is committed to outreach into the community through service programs of Americanism, Youth, Community, and Child Abuse Prevention. Anyone interested in this meeting or Exchange Club is encouraged to contact Clark.

40&8 to change date of fish dinners

ANDERSON -- Starting Friday, the Madison County Voiture 510 40&8 will move its monthly fish dinner to the next to the last Friday of the month.

From 4 to 7 p.m., on Aug. 23, they will host an all-you-can-eat fish dinner. The menu will include Alaskan Pollock, coleslaw, baked bean, green beans, and rolls. The cost is $8 and carry-out will be available.

Grand Prix set for Aug. 24-25

ALEXANDRIA -- The second annual Alexandria Grand Prix will be held Aug. 24-25 in downtown Alexandria.

The two-day event is the seventh racing event of the season for the Southern Indiana Racing Association Midwest Champion Series.Race times are from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Practice begins one hour before race time.

Other events include food vendors, Murat Shiners “Desert Patrol,” beer garden, vendors, kid zone, Pole Position Party featuring Fender Alley, Zip Line (Saturday only), car show (Sunday only) and a driver autograph session.

‘Either Side of Gray’ exhibition opening

ANDERSON -- “Either Side of Gray” exhibition opens on Aug. 20 at The Anderson Center for the Arts. The majority of the work will highlight various printmaking and drawing media. Works chosen represent mastery of the various techniques and some of the best of Midwestern artists working in the last half of the 20th century.

    A small group of amputees gathered for the Second Annual Show Your Mettle Day at Frazier’s Dairy Maid on Friday. The event, which offered free ice cream to amputees thanks to Prevail Prosthetics and Orthotics, served as a meet and greet to help support limb loss awareness in the community.
