Community Briefs: Aug. 30

Rupert Boneham to be at Traderbaker Mall

ANDERSON — The Traderbaker Vendor Mall in Applewood Center will host a Customer Appreciation Day on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Rupert Boneham from TV's "Survivor" will be in attendance, signing autographs and books and taking pictures with fans.

Refreshments will be served. Boneham will appear on this season of "Survivor: Blood vs. Water."

KCCA hosts car, truck, bike show

ANDERSON — Killbuck Concerned Citizens Association (KCCA) will host a car, truck and bike show from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 at OB's Bar and Grill. Registration is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Music will be provided by DJ Big Rich.

Pre-entry is $8 or $10 the day of the show. Checks can be made payable to KCCA, mail to On Broadway, 44 Jackson St., Anderson, In. 46016.

Three Best in Class trophies will be awarded, along with 30 Top 10 trophies.

'Hope for Helpling' benefit Sept. 7

ELWOOD — "Hope for Helping," a fundraiser benefit for Madeline Helping will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Elwood Elks Lodge.

Helpling, 18, is a recent graduate of Elwood Community High School and is being treated for bone cancer.

A spaghetti dinner will be served from 6 to 8 p.m. Media Frenzy and Overruled will entertain from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Cost is $10 which includes cover charge and spaghetti dinner. Without dinner, there is a $5 cover charge.

Lions Club to host Sept. 7 breakfast

DALEVILLE — The Lions Club, Sixth and Edwards streets, will host an all-you-can-eat community breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Cost is $6 for adults and children under the age of six eat free.

The menu includes eggs and sausage, pancakes, biscuits and sausage gravy, coffee, milk and orange juice.

Proceeds will benefit the Daleville High School basketball team.

After he made a comment that hospitals in London have greeters, the director of Volunteer Services at the time told him he had the perfect voice and accent to do it at St. Vincent. Twelve years later, he’s volunteered more than 4,500 hours.
