---- — Take your dog swimming

MUNCIE — Muncie will host its first “Drool in the Pool” event on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Tuhey Pool, corner of West White River Bouvelard and North Wheeling Avenue.

Bring your dog for fun activities for both owner and pet. Cost is $10 for the two (each additional dog, $5, limit two dogs per person). Spectator admission, $1.

Dog guards will be on duty. Net proceeds will be donated to the Muncie Animal Shelter and ARF.

All dogs must be well-behaved; humans may assist their dogs in the pool. Dogs are required to be spayed or neutered and at least six months of age.

Weston fundraiser Saturday

ANDERSON — A fundraiser for 3-year-old Olivia Weston is planned from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Family Video, 925 E. 38th St. Weston is undergoing treatment for a rare form of kidney cancer.

A bake sale, car wash, cookout, free popcorn, bounce house and a movie sale are planned. A portion of the movie sale will go to Olivia and her family. For questions, call Ray Ellis at 622-1585.

AHS class of ‘53 meets Sept. 16

ANDERSON — The Anderson High School Class of 1953 and guests meet for lunch at MCL Cafeteria in Mounds Mall the third Monday of each month.

This month’s meeting will be Sept. 16.

Church to host Saturday fish fry

ANDERSON — Greater St. Mark Church, 2232 Dewey St., will host a fish fry on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.

The menu includes whiting and perch, baked beans and potato salad. Desserts (cake and peach cobbler) will be available at an extra charge as well as soft drinks and water.

Cost is $8.50 per person.

‘Once Upon an Apron’ program

ANDERSON — The Ladies Ministry of Maple Grove Church of God located on East 38th Street will hold its “Once Upon an Apron” program at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.

The program, open to all ladies of the community, will consist of some trivia about aprons and an apron fashion show followed by author and speaker Verna Davis.

Refreshments will be served and a freewill offering will be collected. Bring your favorite apron.

AHS 60th reunion to be Oct. 4-5

ANDERSON — Plans are being finalized for the Anderson High School Class of 1953’s 60-year reunion for the weekend of Oct. 4 and 5. A mixer at Anderson Country Club will be Friday evening along with golfing Friday at Grandview golf course.

A Saturday morning brunch will be hosted at Trinity Episcopal Church and dinner that evening at the Anderson Country Club.

Letters have been mailed, but if a classmate needs information, they should call Wanda Mitchell at 724-7136.

ACS Retired Secretaries to have lunch

ANDERSON — Anderson Community Schools Retired Secretaries will meet for their monthly luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Monday at MCL Restaurant in Mounds Mall.

The group meets the second Monday of each month.
