Legion hosting benefit ride for Paul Fields

FRANKTON -- The Frankton American Legion will host a motorcycle benefit ride for the late Paul Fields on Saturday. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. with the first bike out at 11 a.m. The cost is $10 per rider and $5 per passenger.

A biscuits and gravy breakfast with fried potatoes will be available for $3 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Fields Brothers Band will perform after the ride at approximately 6 p.m. Food will be available.

‘Lion, Witch & Wardrobe’ starts Aug. 23

MUNCIE -- Muncie Civic Theatre will present “The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe” on the Mainstage Theatre on Aug. 23-24, Aug. 30-Sept. 1, and Sept. 5-7.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday Matinee on Sept. 1 is at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for Groups of 10+, and $10 for students & children. Reserved Seating. Order tickets online at Municecivic.org, or at the box office, Tuesday through Friday, from noon to 6 p.m. or an hour before the show, or by calling 288-7529.

  • FEA - HB0728 - Fresh Orientation - SH Elwood freshmen learn the ways of high school through mentoring program About half the 112 incoming freshmen at Elwood Jr./Sr. High School got a jump on their friends recently by attending a freshman orientation session. Joan Mercer, an English teacher who helped organize the the orientation, said the mentor program, which has been in place for several years, has been effective in new students make the high school transition.
