Gaithers to host Christmas concert to benefit homeless

The Herald Bulletin

---- — INDIANAPOLIS — Alexandria residents and multi-Grammy winners Bill and Gloria Gaither joined forces with Wheeler Mission in Indianapolis this past spring to create a six-month partnership culminating in a Christmas extravaganza on Nov. 30 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Wheeler Mission and the Gaither organization hope to make a significant difference in providing needed support for the homeless in central Indiana, where approximately 1,600 people are homeless on any given night.

Bill Gaither visited Wheeler Mission’s Shelter for Men several months ago, then returned a few weeks later to serve meals, tour the facilities, interact with people who are struggling with homelessness. He also learned more about the many services Wheeler is providing to help the downtrodden get back on their feet again.

The Gaither Homecoming Christmas Extravaganza will be a celebration of the community’s generosity, and of the hope that Wheeler Mission is sharing with people who need it most. The concert features a musical lineup of artists singing inspirational and Christmas favorites.

The roster of artists will include Bill and Gloria Gaither, The Gaither Vocal Band (David Phelps, Mark Lowry, Wes Hampton and Bill Gaither), Carl Erskine, The Isaacs, Buddy Greene, The Martins, Angie Primm, Charlotte Ritchie and many others, plus the Indianapolis Children’s Choir and a 1,600-voice chorale from greater Indianapolis churches, schools and universities.

Tickets to the Gaither Homecoming Christmas Spectacular are available at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Box office, online at www.gaither.com, or by phone at 1-800-745-3000. Group orders of 15 or more receive 2 FREE tickets. For group tickets call 1-800-965-9324 or go to www.iTickets.com for details.
