ANDERSON — Anderson firefighters still have plenty of 2013 Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts and sweatshirts/hoodies available for purchase. Prices range from $20 to $40, and all items are available in pink or blue. Sizes range from youth small to 3XL. Christmas in Lapel Dec. 7
LAPEL — The town of Lapel will kick off its first "Christmas in Lapel" Saturday, Dec. 7 with a variety events.
The day will begin with brunch with Santa at Trinity Church from 9 to 11 a.m. and culminate with Santa arriving on a fire truck from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lapel Fire Station. In between there will be cookie decorating, crafts, live nativity scene, carolers, hot chocolate and shopping.
Park Place hosts bazaar Saturday
ANDERSON — The Annual Holiday Art & Craft Bazaar is planned from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Fellowship Hall at Park Place Church of God, 501 College Drive. There will be booths of Christmas items, wreaths, flowers, wooden crafts, Pampered Chef, fudge, baked goods, “31” products, Avon, homemade jewelry, T.A.P.P. jewelry (from Africa), scarves, items from Ecuador, purses and bags, Tupperware, Premier Designs, Scentsy Candles, and so much more.
Breakfast (biscuits and gravy and homemade cinnamon rolls) and lunch (soups and sandwiches) will be served by members of the 2014 Uganda Mission Team at a nominal fee. Proceeds from rental of the booths and the food will go to benefit mission team.
Model railroad open house Friday
ANDERSON — The Madison County History Center, 11 W. 11th St., will have a model railroad open house from noon to 4 p.m. Friday.
This event will be the start of the center's Model Railroad & Doll House Exhibit which will be open to the public from Nov. 29 through Dec. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit will also be open every Saturday in December from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The exhibit features a view of rail history in photos, memorabilia and displays. There is no charge to visit this or any other event in the facility.
Gas City First Christian Church to host meal site
YORKTOWN — A new senior café will open in Grant County beginning Dec. 9. The café will be hosted at the Gas City First Christian Church, 401 E. North D St., Gas City. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
People 60 and older can enjoy a nutritious meal that meets one-third of the recommended daily dietary allowance for seniors; cost is on a donation basis. The café will be operated by trained volunteers.
