Bluegrass concert Saturday evening

ALEXANDRIA — A free bluegrass concert featuring the Mountain Laurel Acoustic Band will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at 5 Crown Ministries, 218 N. Harrison St.

A pitch-in dinner and an informal jam session will follow.

Elwood Legion lists upcoming events

ELWOOD — The American Legion of Elwood will host an all-you-can-eat Papa John’s pizza night with salad bar and bread sticks from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 23. The Country Mile Band will entertain from 8 to 11 p.m.

On Saturday, March 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. shepherd’s pie will be served. Entertainment by Shawn from 8 to 11 p.m.

The legion hosts a euchre tournament every Wednesday at 7 p.m. You must be 18 to enter.

Basket Bingo Thursday at school

MIDDLETOWN — Psi Iota Xi will host Basket Bingo on Thursday, March 21, at the Shenandoah High School cafeteria. Doors open at 6 p.m. with play starting at 7 p.m.

There will be food and prizes, raffles as well as Bingo. Proceeds will be split between Middletown Food Pantry and Psi Iota Xi 2013 Senior Scholarship Fund.

Those playing must be 18 and should enter through dock entrance.

Exchange Club celebrates 102 years

ANDERSON — The Anderson Noon Exchange Club will celebrate the 102nd birthday of the National Exchange Club at its Tuesday, March 19, club meeting at The Edge Golf and Dining. With programs of service including Americanism, youth, community and child abuse prevention, the Exchange Club celebrates as the only “all American” service club, with over 700 clubs across the United States.

Beth Tharp, CEO of Community Hospital Anderson, will be the guest speaker Tuesday. Guests are welcome to attend and learn more about Exchange. The club meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The buffet luncheon is $10 per person and reservations may be made by calling 617-5912.

Muncie bands host chili supper

MUNCIE — The Muncie Southside Spirit of South Band & Guard will present The Tom Hammond Celebrate the Arts Chili Supper at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at Muncie Southside High School, 1601 E. 26th St.

The Spirit of South concert band and Wilson Middle School Band will perform during dinner. At the conclusion of dinner, the Winter Color Guard will perform its 2013 show titled “Rosa Parks.”

Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Admission includes one bowl of chili, a hot dog, a dessert and choice of coffee or lemonade (soda available for purchase). Extra bowls of chili will be $1.

All proceeds will go to the purchase of new Spirit of South Band and Guard Tower.

GREENFIELD — Hancock Wellness Center will host a Joint Replacement seminar from 5 to 7 p.m. April 11 that will discuss when a hip or knee replacement is needed, the advantages of the surgical procedure, how it is performed, and the recovery process.
