Pendleton to bop at Saturday sock hop

PENDLETON — Get ready to relive the hits of the nifty ‘50’s and swinging ‘60’s at the Pendleton Community Public Library, 595 East Water Street on Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m.

All ages are invited to this family event. There will be prizes for the best costume and the funniest socks. Rock around the clock with the library’s own D.J., Matthew Stephenson. Dave and Josh Ellison, owners of Pendleton’s Gathering Grounds Coffee Shop, will play favorite songs. Elvis Presley (Scotty Zion) may show up.

Meeting topic is uterine fibroids

ANDERSON — Doctors from St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital will discuss a minimally invasive, uterus-saving treatment for uterine fibroids at a free educational presentation on Tuesday, March 26.

Julie Tillman, M.D., a specialist in OB/GYN, and Vincent Flanders, M.D., a specialist in interventional radiology, will present information about uterine fibroid embolization. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Anderson University Flagship Center, 2705 Enterprise Dr.

Fantasy gardens to be talk topic

ANDERSON — Spread some fairy dust with the Allisonville nursery shows how to create miniature fairy gardens complete with tiny furniture, plants and fairies.

A talk titled “Fantasy Gardens from Fairy to Zombie” is sponsored by the Madison County Master Gardeners.The talk will be at 11 a.m. on March 30 at the Anderson Public Library, Delaware Room, 111 E. 12th Street. Admission is free.

Clark Field flea market is May 19

CHESTERFIELD — Make your reservation now for an all-day flea market on Saturday, May 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Clark Field next to Chesterfield Christian Church on Plum Street.

Lenten Breakfast Series wraps up

ELWOOD — The 2013 Anderson Area Christian Men’s Lenten Breakfast Series finalizes at 8 a.m. Saturday at Elwood First United Methodist Church with a breakfast followed by the 50-member Anderson Area Youth Chorale with Director Sue Finger.

The speaker will be the Rev. Robb Rolof. Rolof, pastor of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton.

Freewill donations will be accepted and the church is handicap accessible. Attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for Operation Love.

MS walk set for Saturday in Muncie

MUNCIE — The Walk MS: East Central will take place Saturday inside Worthen Arena at Ball State campus, Bethel Avenue and McKinley Avenue.
