---- — Hensley joins American Angus Association

MARKLEVILLE — Nash Hensley, Markleville, is a new junior member of the American Angus Association, reported Bryce Schumann, CEO of the national organization with headquarters in St. Joseph, Mo.

Junior members of the Association are eligible to register cattle in the American Angus Association, participate in programs conducted by the National Junior Angus Association and take part in Association-sponsored shows and other national and regional events.

Karate students honored with belts

ANDERSON — On Jan. 10, students of T.A.S.K. (Training Academy of Shotokan Karate) were honored by receiving their new belts. The higher belts were earned by outstanding achievement in their training.

Recipients of the Yellow Belt are: Esmeralda Garcia, Alma Garcia, Shane M. Hollan and Aiden Dunn.

Recipients of the Orange Belt are: Ivan Garcia, Matthew Hobbs, Carson Tipton, Myah Harshman. Maggie Harshman and Leonardo Garcia.

Recipient of the Green Belt is Eduardo Lopez.

Tori Buchan (Sensei) teaches the classes. She has been involved in karate for 30 years. She is also a graduate of Anderson University and has a bachelor's degree in physical education.

The classes are designed to encourage self-discipline in the students. The Academy is located at Mounds Mall.
