---- — IU Alumni to host viewing party

ANDERSON — The Indiana University Alumni Association of Madison County is having a I.U. football TV viewing party at Rigo's restaurant (Grandview Golf Course) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Drinks and food will be provided at no charge along with door prizes. All IU fans are welcome. For questions, call John Etchison via email at etch99@comcast.net.

Women's League to host August meeting

ANDERSON — The Women's League of The Anderson Center for the Arts, 32 W. 10th. St., will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Center.

Remember when women never went anywhere without putting on a hat? The program speaker, Marilyn Lenhart, will talk about "Vintage Hats," which recalls the memories of that era. The planning for the Casserole Kitchen and bake sale for the Oktoberfest on Sept. 19 will also be considered.

Refreshments will be served before the meeting, which is opened to members, those considering becoming a member or anyone just interested in seeing this presentation. Membership is $20 a year.

New Life to host Friday and Saturday rummage

ANDERSON — The ladies ministry at New Life Church of the Nazarene, 3615 Raible Ave., is hosting its annual rummage and bake sale on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall and garage behind the church.

Legion serving pork chop dinners

MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown American Legion Post 216, 450 N. 10th St., will have thick-cut pork chop dinners available from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Price is $9.50 and and includes pork chop (grilled or broasted) and two sides.

The every Friday night special of broasted fish and two sides will also be available for $8.75.

The post is non-smoking.

Benefit rummage sale Sept. 6-7

ANDERSON — A rummage sale to benefit the Indiana Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health is planned Sept. 6 and 7 at Aletheia Fellowship, 2505 Faith Drive. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

All proceeds benefit this group and their efforts to educate, advocate and assist Hoosier families with children with social, emotional, behaviorial and mental health challenges.

Emens presents The Greg Foresman Band

MUNCIE — The Greg Foresman Band will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Pruis Hall on the campus of Ball State University.

The band draws from rock, blues, folk and a little bit of country. Foresman joined Martina McBride's touring band in 1997 while still keeping his own identity as a guitarist, often playing at the popular Indianapolis bar, The Slippery Noodle.
